Ipas DRC works to build women’s awareness of sexual and reproductive health and increase community access to sexual and reproductive health services through community-based education and outreach programs.

Through the Makoki Ya Mwasi Movement, we reach youth-led, women-led, person-with-disabilities and media organizations in our community outreach and support. This movement is essential to Ipas’ community engagement strategy, which fosters national ownership, strengthens the reproductive justice movement, and improves the referral pathway.

Ipas integrated positive masculinity into the intervention model of community-based organizations to bring about a lasting change in gender norms and men’s attitudes, making them partners in the fight against discrimination and stigmatization of women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights, including safe abortion.

Quotes

In our collaborative work we have set up a referral network of young people involved in advocacy, community involvement and the referral of young girls and women to sexual and reproductive health services. Today, with the “positive masculinity” approach, the Mashujaa are gradually redefining gender norms in the region and specifically in the IDP camps, through dialogues with the community.

Quotes

As Mashujaa, we are not just here to provide information on sexual and reproductive health rights. We are here to listen to these women and girls who were silenced and had no one who could understand them.
